Sukumar, another HALO rescue
Sukumar, a 28-year-old man from the Nubri Valley, fell 50 meters off a cliff while gathering fodder for his sheep. He lay unconscious for the whole night until a passer-by heard his painful cries the next day and was able to bring help. Sukumar was then brought down to Kathmandu through our HALO service and taken to the hospital. He was in severe pain from breaking his pelvis and femur and was admitted into urgent care for surgery.
Since the surgery, he has been recovering well and working hard to walk again. The other wounds and cuts on his body have healed completely. When our staff visited Sukumar in the hospital, he told them, “I would have died if it weren’t for the HALO service. I am very thankful to all those involved in this service for saving my life.”
Sukumar is currently staying in a temporary facility provided by our partner organization SDSS (Sundar Dhoka Saathi Sewa). He has been going for regular follow up visits to the hospital. He is still dependent on crutches to get around but is now much stronger since the accident.
Stay tuned for updates on Sukumar and his journey to recovery!
