Kashi, our HALO patient
Kashi, a resident of Kathmandu, works as a porter in the Nubri valley. Recently while trekking in the Nubri valley with a group of tourists, he suddenly felt a stabbing pain in his stomach. As he continued trekking, he became nauseous and started vomiting. He was taken to our Ghap Health Post where he received initial treatment. But as his condition worsened, he was evacuated to Kathmandu via our HALO service.
After running necessary medical tests, Kashi was diagnosed with appendicitis. He underwent the appropriate surgery and was discharged shortly after. The doctors shared that because he was brought down on time his life was not at risk.
At present, Kashi now back to his normal daily life and trekking! We are so glad to be able to carry hope to him and others like him living and working in the remote Nepal Himalaya.
